Simon Doonan + caffeine = Barneys

Although Barneys' only nod to food comes from the $30 salads served upstairs at Fred's, the department store is taking a surprisingly caloric approach to its holiday windows this year.

Per The Moment, the theme for this year's window display is "Have a Foodie Holiday." Simon Doonan, Barneys' creative director, collaborated with South Beach/New York City Wine & Food Festival director Lee Schrager to choose 70 culinary "personalities" to portray in the windows -- Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Lidia Bastianich, Julia Child, and Jamie Oliver will be among the chefs to be ogled by tourists and sartorialists.

Doonan's explanation for the windows: "[O]ur customers are much more interested in Bobby Flay and Keith McNally than in Lindsay Lohan or the Kardashians. Chefs are definitely the new celebrities."
