Butter Queen of Brooklyn Churns Out the Good Stuff

Categories: Eating, Shockey

The first ladies of butter.
Yes, Brooklyn foodism is reaching an apogee of somewhat annoying proportions, but one new company stands out as a worthwhile addition to the larder: The Butter Queen of Brooklyn, which sells a variety of flavored butters.

The butter is hand-churned in Brooklyn using Hudson Valley fresh cream, sourced from local New York farmers. The flavors are supposedly inspired by the triumphs and tribulations of America's first ladies (we don't have queens, mind you), so Martha Washington is roasted garlic and tarragon, Eleanor Roosevelt is pecan praline, Jackie Onassis is Bing cherry bourbon vanilla with pink sea salt, and Lady Bird Johnson is hibiscus lime. Look for the butter at Marlow & Daughters, bastion of Brooklyn cool. Each jar is brightly colored and features a drawn portrait of a first lady.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term "butterface."
