Montreal Food Trudge, Part One: Au Pied de Cochon, St.-Viateur Bagels, and More

The St.-Viateur sesame bagel is pale and nicely paved with seeds. Some Montrealers claim this is the city's best bagel.
This Montreal food trudge is intended to illustrate the article in this week's Voice entitled "Exploring the Montreal--New York Food Connection." The pictures were taken on my last two visits, in 2008 and 2010. A second half will run tomorrow morning.

The St.-Viateur matzoh is similarly paved with sesame seeds, and irregular in shape.
The Fairmount sesame bagel is browner and a little sweeter, and some give this bagel the palm.
Fairmount Bagel dates to 1950.
