Now at Russ & Daughters: Double-Smoked Danish Salmon
For fish fiends, perhaps the only thing more exciting than the beginning of New Catch Holland herring season at Russ & Daughters is the arrival of double-smoked Danish salmon at Russ & Daughters. 
Lox Populi
Per the store's Lox Populi blog, the salmon's diet of herring is in part responsible for its distinctive velvety texture, champagne hue, and smokey flavor -- as well as all of extra omega-3s you get from eating it. The fish, which is available for a limited time only, comes from a small smokehouse on Denmark's Bornholm coast that's been run by the same family for generations -- much like Russ & Daughters itself.
