Joe the Art of Coffee Opens a Columbia University Location
Joe the Art of Coffee is already a fixture at downtown college campuses New York University and the New School. Continuing its citywide collegiate expansion, the coffee shop has officially opened its sixth location, on the Columbia University campus.

The coffeehouse's 60-seat branch is located in the Northwest Corner Building (550 West 120th Street, Mezzanine, 212-851-1901), one of Columbia University's newer digs, which houses science classrooms and research facilities. Like at its other locations, this branch of Joe will serve donuts and pastries.
"This marks the first time -- as far as we know -- that a major university has made specific steps to take its coffee to the next level of quality and sustainability," said Jonathan Rubenstein, who co-owns Joe. Adding to the educational atmosphere, this branch of Joe will also feature coffee classes, lectures, and workshops.
Fortunately, the brew isn't just for bio majors -- this spot will be open to the public and is ready to caffeinate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
