Not your grandmother's cocktail hour.
Fatty Johnson's, the pop-up restaurant and bar Zak Pelaccio and the Fatty crew have set up as they prepare for the next incarnation of the space that once housed Cabrito, is distinguishing itself by lining up a rotating cast of all-star bartenders. The first guest mixologist was none other than booze historian David Wondrich, whose latest tome, Punch, chronicles the evolution of the communal cocktail. This week, members of LUPEC's (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) New York chapter get behind the bar to sling some ladylike libations.

Chapter president Lynnette Marrero, who can also be found behind the bar at Peels, will be pouring drinks on Wednesday night, and Eryn Reece of Mayahuel will be in the house on Saturday. Look for such feminine potables as the Pink Lady (gin, lemon juice, grenadine, bonded applejack, and egg white) and the Hanky Panky (gin, sweet vermouth, and Fernet Branca), originally created in the early 20th century by London's Savoy Hotel barkeep and pretty much the only well-known female bartender of the day, Ada Coleman.
