Mercadito Cantina to Become an Event Space

East Village taqueria standby Mercadito Cantina (172 Avenue B, 212-388-1750) will be shuttering its doors at the end of the month and will turn into an event space.

Per Mercadito's rep, the space will be utilized for "innovative cooking demonstrations by Chef Sandoval, beverage classes by Tippling Bros., private party packages and more."
But fear not, you can still get your taco fix at the original Mercadito on Avenue B and at Mercadito Grove in the West Village. Or switch up the routine at nearby newcomer El Camion.
