Naidre's Carroll Gardens Will Be Replaced by the Maybelle Café

Naidre's, the Carroll Gardens café beloved for its sandwiches, muffins, and very lenient laptop camping policy, has closed. A consummate neighborhood café that had been a fixture on Henry Street for years, it closed its doors last Wednesday after its owner, Janice Pullicino, decided to refocus her energies on its sister location in Park Slope.

Grub Street learned of the news from the Naidre's Facebook page, and reports that the space, which was originally occupied by the old Cammereri's bakery, will reopen on Thursday as the Maybelle Café, a 30-seat establishment with a largely vegetarian-vegan menu. Run by a husband-and-wife team, it will initially serve breakfast and lunch. And most importantly for much of Naidre's core constituency, it will have Wi-Fi.
