Ozzie's Slapped With Federal Complaint After Firing Barista

ozzlogo.png
What is it about Park Slope coffee shops and legal settlements? Not too long after the owners of Gorilla Coffee filed suit against The New York Times and eight former employees for, essentially, smack talk, the National Labor Relations Board has backed the claims of a barista who says he was fired by Ozzie's for his union affiliation.

The Brooklyn Paper reports that the NLRB issued a complaint against the perpetually crowded Seventh Avenue coffee shop last month for firing Jeff Bauer last summer. The shop's owner maintains that the firing had nothing to do with Bauer's union membership but instead took place because he was "constantly complaining to customers and other employees." Apparently Bauer is continuing to stage protests outside of the establishment, which probably won't predispose his former employers to giving him his job back.
