Souvlaki GR Will Open a Restaurant in the LES
Souvlaki GR, arguably the best Greek mobile food purveyor around (and the 2010 Vendy winner for Best Rookie Truck), will soon be expanding its stomping grounds from Midtown, Union Square, and Soho to the Lower East Side with its first brick-and-mortar location.

Per New York Street Food, a lease "for an undisclosed location" has been signed. However, as we briefly mentioned last week, a peek at this month's Community Board 3 calendar implies that the location will be at 116 Stanton Street. So how will the fare differ? For one, the menu will expand slightly, with the addition of a couple of salads, sweets, and Greek coffee supplementing the popular pork and chicken pitas.
While the team works to get their ducks (or chickens, one might say) in a row with constructing the new space, the souvlakitruck will temporarily be out of commission throughout January, and a March 1 opening is projected. Stay tuned for more details.
