The Rum House Will Be Resurrected

rhint.jpg
When word first spread in early June of the Rum House's impending closure, its owner, Thai Dang, told us that it would probably be replaced by "something shiny." And that's kind of true -- it will be replaced by a shinier version of itself.

As Diner's Journal reports, the 37-year-old piano bar in the Edison Hotel will be resurrected next week by Michael Neff, Kenneth McCoy, and Abdul Tabini, the owners of Tribeca's Ward III. Aside from thoroughly cleaning the place and doing some surface renovations, the new owners have kept the unassuming decor just as it was. The more significant changes are to the bar's titular tipple: There will be a wider variety of whiskey and rum, as well as "esoteric concoctions" like the ones served at Ward III. And, thankfully, there will still be piano performances at least five times a week.
