What's Happening This Week: A Boozy Movie Night; A Beefy (And Lamby And Porky) Burger Night
As you may know, our weekly dining and drinking newsletter features all the coolest epicurean events in the city. Sign up for it here!
Classic Cocktails, Classic Film
Friday, January 7, 6:30 p.m.
Some of Hollywood's best movies feature cocktails in supporting roles. Join cocktail columnist Nora Maynard for this lesson in libations from the silver screen. From martinis (shaken, not stirred, of course) to Ramos Gin Fizzes, you'll drink to your favorite American film classics as you deconstruct the cocktails sipped in your favorite scenes.
Ina Garten at The New York Times' 10th Annual Arts & Leisure Weekend
Saturday, January 8, 6 p.m.
The Barefoot Contessa herself will be interviewed by Times theater writer Alex Witchel about her 30-plus years in the business. Garten, who is definitely not known as the healthiest of cooks, continues to serve up butter-and-cream-forward recipes on her Food Network show, as well as in her many cookbooks. Tickets are $30.
Mondays, 5:30-11 p.m.
This beloved Brooklyn haunt is kicking off 2011 with a new Monday night burger special. Choose from three half-price burgers and sliders: the Classic with Vermont cheddar on brioche, the Lamb with warm goat cheese and melted cippolini onions, and the pulled-pork slider on a Parker House roll with coleslaw and sweet potato fries.
