One Day, Your Kitchen Will Be Smarter Than You

So Watson the ubersmart computer beat the competition by a long shot last night on Jeopardy!, and now ZDNet brings news of a technology that is set to revolutionize the home kitchen. Intel is working to create kitchen counters with built-in touch-screens that essentially instruct how to cook and organize in the kitchen.

The technology is called Oasis and works in several ways. One lets consumers place ingredients on their countertop -- otherwise known as an "island of interactivity" -- and will then use object recognition to suggest different dishes or recipes that the consumer can create with those ingredients. It can also list nutritional information. But no, it can't actually cook dinner for you -- yet.
