Paty's Taco Truck Fights Back
When the going gets tough, the tough bring about a lawsuit. Patricia Monroy, owner of Paty's Taco Truck, has been battling the Upper East Side over the past year. Now she is hoping to reclaim her income and the right to sell tacos in the neighborhood, where crotchety residents have complained about trucks like Paty's taking up parking spots. Paty's was forced to relocate earlier this winter, and, following even more kerfuffles with the po-po, Monroy is now fighting the battle in court.

According to DNAinfo, which has been closely monitoring this brawl, the lawsuit was filed on Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court against the city, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, and police officer Sean St. Clair. It also seeks a preliminary injunction to allow Monroy to dish up her tacos on 86th Street and Lexington Avenue until the case is resolved. The Street Vendor Project is taking up the case pro bono, but Monroy still contends that she's about to lose her business and can't pay the lease for where she stores her truck. Jeez, people, can't the lady just sell some tacos?
