Animated Foodies: Showtime Buys Rights to Chew Comic

It appears the next frontier in foodie entertainment is animated. As we patiently await the comic cookbook by Amanda Cohen of Dirt Candy and Anthony Bourdain's graphic novel Get Jiro!, news arrives that an animated endeavor for epicures is about to leap to the small screen.

According to The Food Section, Showtime has bought a script for Chew, a cop show based on the bestselling comic book by John Layman and Rob Guillory. The plot will revolve around federal agent Tony Chu, a "cibopath" able to get psychic impressions from foods he eats, which in turn helps him solve crimes. We smell another opportunity for a chef cameo or two ...
