Breast Milk Ice Cream Seized in London
BBC News reports that stocks of the breast-milk ice cream -- dubbed Baby Gaga, and served in a martini glass -- being sold by Icecreamists in Covent Garden, London, have been seized by the authority of the Westminster Council, on the basis of two complaints by citizens and questions posed by a pair of government bureaus, the Health Protection Agency and the Food Standards Agency.
bbc.co.uk/news/ The breast-milk ice cream called Baby Gaga costs 14 pounds per glass.
Councilman Brian Connell explained, "Selling foodstuffs made from another person's bodily fluids can lead to viruses being passed on and, in this case, potentially hepatitis. As the local authority we will support small businesses and applaud innovative ideas wherever possible, but must protect the health of consumers."
According to the owner of the store, Matt O'Connor, women are organizing to oppose the confiscation.
