Turns out that there are mighty big plans afoot for the former Mo Pitkin's space on Avenue A.
Over the weekend, Phil Hartman, the owner of the defunct club (and Two Boots), told EV Grieve that he had been approached by a local promoter/music booker whose vision "is to carry on the tradition of the old Knitting Factory and Tonic." According to DNAinfo, that booker/promoter, it turns out, is Todd Patrick, a/k/a Todd P., a/k/a "a real champion of the unpretentious underground."
"I think their hearts are in the right place," Hartman said of his partners, who also include the owners of the now shuttered, complaint-plagued Aces & Eights. Given that the three-story space will feature a 20-foot bar on each level and a ground-floor restaurant, members of Community Board 3 may be disinclined to agree.
