Make Cookies, Not War: Stella D'oro Strike Becomes an HBO Documentary

Stella D'oro cookies are mighty sweet, but there's nothing that can sugarcoat the situation at the Bronx cookie factory, which shuttered in June 2009 following a workers' strike over wage cuts. Or is there? The plight of the workers will now be the focus of an upcoming HBO documentary.

No Contract, No Cookies, made by Emmy winners Jon Alpert and Matthew O'Neill, will tell the story of workers who chased the American dream but ended up fighting to pay the rent, according to the Daily News. No set date has been planned, but HBO says that the film could air as early as the summer.
