Sheisse! New Yorker Beats German for Speed Bartending World Record

This past weekend, New York bartender Sheldon Wiley became the Guinness World Record holder for most drinks made in an hour. The homegrown talent, who bartends at Riff Raff's, the tiki bar that opened below the Hurricane Club late last year, went up against Germany's Matthias Knorr, the previous record holder.

The event took place at the Empire Room, where Wiley made 1,043 drinks in one hour. He needed 938 to break the record. The rules were reportedly rather strict. Each cocktail was required to have a minimum of four ingredients, no cocktail could be repeated, and each had to be prepared individually. So, next time you feel the need to complain that your drink is taking too long, go right ahead. It turns out, the bartender probably could move a little faster ...
