Outside Oxley's.

Always on the hunt for a new lunchtime treat, we made the trek today down Mott Street to check out Oxley's Carvery, a recently opened British butchery shop stuffing hunkering cuts of roasted meat between bread. So what can you scope out at this meat market?

The meats.

The space inside is tiny and lacks seating, save for a bench outside, so this is definitely takeout fare. Too bad, because the aromas of roast herbs and meat juices are intoxicating, and sun streams in through the windowed storefront. A counter displays the meat available, which includes roast pork, lamb, beef, and turkey. Vegetarians are stuck with corn on the cob, potatoes, and broccoli rabe. But then again, if you're an herbivore, why the heck are you in a carvery shop?

The menu.

The menu offers two types of sandwiches -- toasties (a/k/a pressed sandwiches) and sandwiches, which come on rolls. Obviously we had to try both.
