The imposing structure that once housed the Broadway branch of the Williamsburgh Savings Bank in Williamsburg will be transformed into an exhibition space and banquet hall hosting weddings and other special events.

According to The Brooklyn Paper, Juan Figueroa, the developer who owns New York Loft Hostel, was inspired by the Fort Greene branch's revamp into a home for the Brooklyn Flea. He purchased the landmark neo-Classical building last fall from HSBC for $4.5 million. The $3 million restoration is expected to take two years, and will probably include one of the two massive safes in the bank being turned into a bar.
