B.A.D. Bets That the East Village Will Want to Eat Omelets All Day Long

Almost a year after Community Board 3 denied him a license for his planned cocktail bar/restaurant/fishmonger on Avenue A, Keith Masco is instead planning to open a Manhattan location of B.A.D. Burger, his 24-hour diner in South Williamsburg.

EV Grieve spoke with Masco, who said that in addition to serving breakfast all day (hence the initials B.A.D.), the restaurant will also feature a juice bar, dessert bar ... and Xbox, PlayStation, TVs, and vintage video games.

The East Village, of course, has flirted with all-day breakfast concepts before: Permanent Brunch proved to be not so permanent, though it didn't come with an enormous, wackadoo menu and an arcade to lure in wayward teens and desk jockeys trying to stretch their lunch hour as far as possible. Yelp reviews for the Williamsburg incarnation are mixed: One reviewer summed it up as "not bad, terrible," while another described it as "unpretentious, charming, and delicious." Whatever the case, the place is supposed to open in about a month; expect judgment to follow.
