This is what Community Board 3 warned you about.

Over the weekend, the New York Post thoughtfully made official what most people already knew: The East Village is home to many, many bars.

The Post came to this conclusion following an analysis of state liquor licenses by ZIP codes, which found that the neighborhood's code, 10003, has 474 bars, restaurants, and shops licensed to sell alcohol. Following close behind was 10011, which covers Times Square and Hell's Kitchen, and is also home to the city's highest number of self-proclaimed binge drinkers. Perhaps not so coincidentally, it also claims the most Alcoholics Anonymous groups in the city.
