Lately, Things at Dirt Candy Have Been a "Giant Tapestry of Suck"

Suck it.
We enjoy visiting the Dirt Candy blog on occasion, as Amanda Cohen almost inevitably always has something amusing to say, whether it's about attendees of the New York City Wine & Food Festival or girls who can't cook. Fortunately for us and unfortunately for her, her latest update is no exception.

Cohen has written the first installment of a three-part series detailing why, in recent weeks, the vegetarian restaurant has become a "giant tapestry of suck." The beginning provides part of the explanation: First, there was the search for a waiter who was neither brain-damaged nor a con artist, which apparently was harder than it would seem. Next came the broken dishwasher that cost $800 to repair, and then came the charity dinner that "was like feeding my soul through a paper shredder." And finally, someone stole her rubber kitchen floor mat. A broken cell phone, faulty masking tape, and "an exciting issue" with Verizon also figured into the equation.

We're thinking the series should be handed out to all culinary school students during orientation, as well as office refugees who imagine that running a cute little restaurant will be their salvation from wage slavery. And tomorrow's installment would seem to bear that out: It will address a visit from the Health Department.
