FDA Overhauls Its Recall Website, and It's Actually Pretty Great
Following in the footsteps of the New York Department of Health, the FDA has overhauled its food-recall search engine to make it easier to use.
Per Food Production Daily, the new site features recall information in organized, trackable tables, and includes the product brand name, description, and photo; the reason for the recall; the firm responsible for the recall; and whether the recall is ongoing.
Although the FDA's motivations were far from selfless -- it was required to overhaul its search engine by the Food Safety Bill -- it did a nice job on the site, which is indeed easy to use. Even if consumers are still at the mercy of Big Ag's reckless farming practices, it's nice to have a reliable way to keep track of all of the food it has rendered unfit for consumption.
