Goodfellas Brick Oven Pizza Should Open in Two Weeks

The former Kebab House at 144 Orchard Street has nearly completed its transformation to Goodfellas Brick Oven Pizza.
A walk by this morning turned up one of the owners, who told us that the restaurant would open in about two weeks' time. When it does, it will vie for neighborhood slice supremacy with Rosario's, which has sat at Orchard and Stanton Streets for years, and Via Tribunali, which will soon open at 122 Ludlow Street. The latter is the first New York location of a Seattle-based, Neapolitan-style pizzeria, and recently unveiled its bright red brick oven. Goodfellas is based on Staten Island, where it opened a pizza school; in addition to pizza, it will serve pasta and appetizers.
