After months of its windows being papered up, Lucky's Famous Burgers (147 Houston Street, 212-254-4900) has opened, bringing this mini-chain's total number of outlets to four. The city isn't short on burger chains, surely, but when it comes to burger shops, no number is ever enough.

At Lucky's, Angus beef burgers are sold on Martin's potato rolls or whole-wheat buns, although turkey and veggie patties are also available, as are 2.75-ounce mini-burgers. A large selection of sides (fries, sweet-potato fries, onion rings, cheese fries, and chili fries) can be matched with your meat, and a few random salads and wraps comprise the rest of the menu.

We didn't have time to order anything while passing, but popped inside quickly for a look-see. The red-and-yellow color scheme is big and bright and not conducive to lingering, but this restaurant clearly knows its market, occupying prime Houston Street territory to sate those late-night cravings: It's open until 5 a.m. on weekends. And it's true, a corn dog always tastes better at 3 a.m. than 3 p.m.
