Old E.U. Space to Go Italian

italyflag.jpg
The space that formerly house the troubled E.U., then the short-lived Tonda on East 4th Street, will house an Italian restaurant with a focus on wine and beer.

Investors behind Cienfuegos and Mayahuel put forth their case at the Community Board 3 meeting last night, petitioning for later hours than they have already been granted, but promising that the place would, first and foremost, be a restaurant. The request was denied. The investors, both first-time restaurateurs currently in real estate, said they have shortlisted chef candidates and partnered with a former sommelier from City Winery. So, it looks like another enoteca for the neighborhood.
