The Old Sea Salt Space Will Beget Three Levels of Curry

seasaltphoto.png

Three long years after Sea Salt closed, its old home has a new occupant.

Steve Cuozzo reports today in the Post that Brick Lane Curry House will open a 7,000-square-foot, three-level restaurant in the space at 99 Second Avenue. Apparently the building's landlords rejected 20 different potential operators before choosing Brick Lane.

The restaurant already has a location a block away on East 6th Street, and given the number of press releases it sends out, one wonders if its food is really beloved enough to sustain three separate levels of business. It claims to differentiate itself from the numerous Indian restaurants on East 6th Street with "a bit more flash and an English-Indian menu." While the "flash" bit is debatable, its owners, who are also opening an outpost on the Upper East Side, do seem to have plenty of confidence. Perhaps that's what being on Man vs. Food will do to you.
