Kulushkäkat Will Bring Falafel to Park Slope

As if to offer compensation for neighborhood vegetarians bemoaning the imminent opening of Fleisher's, Kulushkät Gourmet Falafel will soon open its doors in Park Slope.

Here's Park Slope reports that the restaurant, which will open in a former beauty salon space at 446 Dean Street, will serve a "mostly vegan" menu of flavored falafel, salads, smoothies, and snacks. According to its Facebook page, a small selection of international and local beers will debut later in the summer.

Kulushkät is the project of two twentysomething friends, one of whom is Israeli. It's his old family recipes that form the core of the menu, and his grandmother who inspired the restaurant's name, which means "shut up and eat" in Moroccan Arabic.

Per the Facebook page, the restaurant will open sometime between the middle of May and the beginning of June. Given the relative lack of falafel purveyors in the neighborhood, we're hopeful that this means we'll be spared any further West Bank allusions.
