Next Week, People's Pops Will Pop up on East 7th Street

Between the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop, Van Leeuwen's, and Butter Lane's Blue Bell ice cream, East 7th Street is shaping up to be a frozen-treats fantasia. And next week it will get even frostier, thanks to the good folks of People's Pops.

Pops' Nathalie Jordi tells us that on Wednesday, July 6, People's Pops will open an outpost at the northeast corner of 7th Street and First Avenue, just west of Caracas Arepa Bar. They're transforming a little wooden structure that abuts the corner bodega into something that falls halfway between a cart and a shop -- in other words, a pop-up in the fullest sense of the word.

Because the pops are seasonal, the location will probably stay open until October, depending on the weather. As they do at their spots at the Chelsea Market and on the High Line, they'll be selling both ice pops and shaved ice, and doing their part to make East 7th Street one of the city's best destinations for high-quality brain freeze.
