Videology Will Open a Bar (and a Screening Room)

Well, here's one way to keep a video store in business: Open a bar.

Videology has been a fixture of Bedford Avenue for seven years, and now, as The Brooklyn Paper reports, its owners have taken some unorthodox steps to help ensure that it will continue to float above the ever-rising tide of online DVD rentals.

Sometime this fall, they'll open a 40-seat bar and screening room. The former will feature imported and domestic wines and 10 beers on tap, as well as a menu of sandwiches, "craft pickles," and the like. The latter will have 30 seats and a selection of films you're not likely to see in the average multiplex.

And together with the Nitehawk Cinema, it will give Williamsburg one more reason to stop complaining about its lack of movie theaters.
