The New World Financial Center Will Be Lousy With Food

A lot to swallow

It looks like the Milk Street Café won't be the only mega-food-hall to make a massive footprint in the Financial District.

Diner's Journal reports that the $250 million redevelopment of the World Financial Center will include a 25,000-square-foot food hall selling meat, cheese, bread, coffee, fresh produce, and wine. One of the market's reps described it as "a cross between Grand Central Market on steroids, and the ambiance of Eataly." That doesn't sound terrifically appealing, but will no doubt find favor with the financial titans and affluent soccer moms who populate the neighborhood.

In addition to the market, the complex will also house six restaurants and 15 casual-dining spots that will occupy a 30,000-square-foot space with 600 seats. There will be views of the Hudson River, which will be rendered but a moat around this castle of gourmet excess.
