Dish No. 77: Rotisserie Duck Lunch at Momofuku Ssäm Bar

Roasted duck over rice with pancakes makes for one yummy dish.

Duck is the new pork, blah blah blah. Whatever, we've been into quackers since we first read Make Way for Ducklings. OK, maybe we didn't eat them back then. But duck has been our fave protein for some time now. So we were pretty stoked when Momofuku Ssäm Bar introduced its new lunch menu, an homage to ducky delights. You can't really go wrong, but we're partial to the rotisserie duck over rice.

Now $14 (plus an extra $1 for Bibb lettuce or $2 for a pancake) is on the higher side for lunch, but the meat is ridiculously tender and succulent, perfectly pink, and possesses a touch of crispy skin. Served over a bed of rice with watercress, the dish is best when ordered with a pancake, allowing a sort of Peking duckish ssäm. Garnishes include ginger-scallion sauce, chile sauce, and fried shallots. Why not throw some of them in, too? Then roll it all up and experience the true meaning of afternoon delight.
