Rolling into a storefront
The time has finally come. After a few months of buzz, Mexicue, the Mexican-barbecue food truck, has gone forth and multiplied, opening its first brick-and-mortar location at 345 Seventh Avenue (212-244-0002). Today marks the soft opening, with the official launch date set for tomorrow.

According to a release sent over by reps, the location will reinterpret the truck décor and will feature signature orange walls, natural wainscot, salvaged wood beams, and black diamond plate. An upper level will offer seating at communal and individual tables. This lower Midtown location will offer an expanded version of the truck menu, plus several salads and sides, and a few new items like Smoky Caesar Salad and Spicy Potato Salad. And if that's not enough veggie goodness, Mexicue is currently running a contest on its website to create a taco or slider using fresh summer corn. The winner will be featured on the Mexicue menu for one month and will receive a $50 gift certificate to Mexicue as well as a Manhattan messenger bag.

And as mentioned a while back, Mexicue will launch a second location on Forsyth Street later this summer. But that's not it -- a new truck will also be cruising the streets later on this summer. Get ready for smoked-short-rib-taco domination.
