Some very sad news from the East Village: It looks like Ray Deter, the owner of d.b.a., will not recover from injuries sustained in a bike accident earlier this week.

EV Grieve reports that Deter's wife, Catherine, updated the d.b.a. Brooklyn Facebook page with the message that "Ray will no longer be with us after this weekend, but we hope our loss will give life to others. Please celebrate Ray as he passes on."

Deter, has been in critical condition since Tuesday, when he was hit by a silver Jaguar while biking on Canal Street. Deter, who opened locations of d.b.a. in the East Village, Williamsburg, and New Orleans, is 53. Our condolences to his family and loved ones.
