Cider on tap, coming soon right here

Signage is up at two new spots in the West Village -- Tertulia, at 359 Sixth Avenue, and the Vagabond Café, located at 7 Cornelia Street. The website for the Vagabond Café doesn't reveal much info except that it's opening summer 2011, although Tertulia is bound to be a noteworthy addition to the neighborhood, since it belongs to none other than Seamus Mullen, formerly the chef of Boqueria.

In an article on Diner's Journal a few months ago, Mullen announced that the space -- formerly La Palapa -- would be inspired by the cider bars of Asturias in northern Spain. The menu will feature "a lot of seafood, a lot of simple preparations," and Mullen noted that "there's going to be a wood-fired grill and cider on tap."

And food and music coming here

The Vagabond Café, meanwhile, appears as if it might host musical events in addition to serving food and drinks (perhaps like nearby neighbor the Cornelia Street Café), but it's still too early to speculate. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the summer.
