The Bean and BaoHaus Branch Out

In between writing a memoir and hosting pop-up dinners, Eddie Huang has found time to focus his attentions on BaoHaus -- or, specifically, its expansion.

Huang told Eater that he'll be opening a second location of his year-and-a-half-old bao shop on or around July 25. Located in the former Thai Me Up space on East 14th Street, it will be decked out with a karaoke machine, family photos, a Game of Thrones shrine and a "Great Wall of Chinamen" featuring the likes of Connie Chung, Long Duck Dong, Chairman Mao, and Kung Fu Panda. It will also serve food.

Elsewhere in the East Village, the Bean is also planning to open a second location. According to a sign snapped by an EV Grieve reader, the First Avenue coffee shop will "soon" open an outpost at 824 Broadway, near East 12th Street. The space, which was recently home to a Quizno's, is located across the street from the Strand, making it a pretty sweet spot for peddling caffeine. So long as everyone remembers to pay their taxes, of course.
