What to Drink at Franny's: The Greenmarket Gin and Tonic
Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.
The drink: Greenmarket Gin & Tonic
Chantal Martineau Like a salad you can drink
The bar: Franny's (295 Flatbush Avenue, Park Slope, 718-230-0221)
The price: $12
Ingredients: Beefeater gin, tonic, and a selection of Greenmarket veggies
The buzz: There are few summer sippers more refreshing than a classic gin and tonic. At Franny's, the drink is made to be even more seasonally appropriate with several slices of cucumbers, carrots, summer squash, and radishes -- or whatever happens to be fresh from the Greenmarket that day. The veggies get lightly pickled in the gin, releasing essences of juniper as you crunch them. They make for a fresh, aromatic snack as you wait for your table to free up or appetizers to arrive. And, considering you're probably about to indulge in some serious pizza action, a mini salad in your glass doesn't hurt.
