Open and Closed: Say Hello to Café de la Esquina at Wythe Diner, Goodbye to Double Crown
Restaurants and bars, they come and they go. Here are a few making their debuts and bowing out this week.
Double Crown, on the Bowery, will close its doors this month and reopen as Saxon & Parole. The adjoining gin joint, Madam Geneva, will remain intact.

Harry Boland's Pub, which was shut down by the Health Department back in May, shows no signs of being resurrected.

Azure, a huge deli in Midtown, closed rather suddenly over the weekend, at which time all contents were removed.

Bar 12, in Midtown, has closed its doors and will reopen as a gastropub called Highland Park, with chef Nadia Day at the helm.

Midtown bespoke burger joint 4Food has shuttered for a "pause to reboot." They plan to reopen September 7.

Banjo Jim's, the East Village bar and live music venue, has closed to make room for the James Daniel, an oyster and cocktail bar.

Maxwell's, a new neighborhood restaurant in Tribeca, is named for a restaurant that occupied the space back in 1938, John Maxwell's.

The Manhattan outpost of New Jersey-based Prime & Beyond has opened in the East Village, serving USDA prime steaks.

Draft Barn, the beer-garden chainlet, has opened its fourth location in Sheepshead Bay, with nearly 300 bottles in stock and hearty fare.

The Harry's Italian Rockefeller Center outpost is up and running, offering the same pizza menu you can get at the FiDi original.

Nolita favorite La Esquina has expanded with Café de la Esquina at Wythe Diner in Williamsburg. Tacos coming soon.

Gold Coast Delicatessen brings its overstuffed pastrami sandwiches, chopped liver, and knishes, plus eggplant parm and cheesesteaks, to Bay Ridge.

Crown Victoria Bar brings more craft beer to Williamsburg -- 24 on tap, in fact -- plus 30 whiskeys and a backyard garden growing seasonal produce for cocktails. [TONY]
The Lower East Side gets a new café and shop. Lost Weekend will serve Blue Bottle coffee, Lucky Penny pastries, Malin + Goetz products, and Saltbox clothing.
