Movers & Shakers: More Foreign Transplants and One New York Export

It's that time of year again, when the food media begins to obsess and chitter over the restaurants set to open in the fall. Among the forthcoming newcomers is more than a handful of foreign transplants, restaurants from other countries that hope to translate their success to the New York market. New York, of course, has never shied from sending out exports of its own.

Per The New York Times, you can expect to see restaurants from Lebanon to South Korea launch outposts in our fair city. Al Mayass, an "Armenian-accented restaurant" from Beirut, is planned for the Flatiron District. London's Hakkasan is expected to open in Midtown in the winter. La Mar Cebicheria, from Peru; Romera, from Spain; Aamanns, from Denmark; Fratelli la Bufala, from Naples; Jung Sik, from South Korea; and Café Pushkin, from Moscow, are among the new imports opening in the coming months.

Meanwhile, who is New York sending out to rep us? Why, Andrew Carmellini, of course. He's not exactly going abroad, but, according to Diner's Journal, he will open a branch of the Dutch in the W Hotel in Miami Beach (Miami being practically another country).
