Murray's Expands, Japonais Becomes Kibo, and Russ & Daughters Remodels...Its Office

Changes, mutations, and alterations are afoot across town today.

Over on Bleecker Street, Eater has learned that Murray's Cheese will expand next door into the space that until recently housed the Lobster Place. Presumably, Murray's deal with Kroger's (not to mention its large and very enthusiastic clientele) will mean it will have an easier time paying the rent than the former tenants did.

Up on East 18th Street, Stephen Hanson will open Kibo in the Japaonais space. Diner's Journal reports that the restaurant, which should open in October, will be the first strictly Japanese project from Hanson and B.R. Guest; expect noodles, a robata grill, and an emphasis on organic ingredients.

And finally, Russ & Daughters is undergoing its own seismic shift: its office is being redesigned. There are now lovely old photos on the walls, just in time for the ravenous High Holiday rush.
