Original BaoHaus on Rivington to Close

Earlier, Eater reported that the original BaoHaus location on Rivington Street on the Lower East Side was set to close, and now owner Eddie Huang's always entertaining blog, Fresh Off the Boat, confirms it. The tiny basement space where Huang got his start will serve its last pork bun this Sunday. Don't worry; you can still get your bao fix at BaoHaus's 14th Street location, where Huang says he will start serving new dishes like beef noodle soup and soup dumplings.

Huang doesn't sound too upset over the closing of his first restaurant:

Don't be sad. It's part of the plan. ... When you see what we have coming at Baohaus 2 next month, you will doodie your pants. ... Evan and I had to make some choices about where to devote our time because right now it's just the two of us and staff at BH2 running the business. We're looking to build the team but we have so many things on our plate, we have to focus.

Hopefully this just means more delicious things at the remaining BaoHaus, not to mention more time that Eddie can spend blogging.
