Where the Bands Eat: Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear and More

Want to sip cocktails and eat with the Arcade Fire? Unless you are already an awesomely talented, famous musician, too bad! What you can do, however, is sit and subtly stare at them from a few tables over while eating deconstructed Niçoise salads and sipping glasses of Bulleit bourbon. That was Fork in the Road's experience while dining at the Sparrow, a stylish gastropub in the hip Mile End neighborhood of Montreal. Win Butler, standing at what seemed like nine feet tall with a neon baseball cap, and Régine Chassagne, dressed in an adorably grandma-like sweater, both sat on plush couches, sipping drinks a day after playing in front of nearly 100,000 people during their POP Montreal show in the Quartier des Spectacles area of downtown Montreal.

The waitress told us that the Arcade Fire held their after-party at the Sparrow the night before, which means they must really like the place, not hard to understand when you consider the cute vintage décor, solid, somewhat affordable food, and serious drink program. In fact, it's reminiscent of Williamsburg's Marlow & Sons, which members of Grizzly Bear and Annie Clark (a/k/a St. Vincent) have been known to frequent. You can find rock's number one proponent of partying hard, Andrew W.K., at Lan Sheng and Brick Lane Curry House in Midtown, while Yuki Chikudate of Asobi Seksu digs Five Leaves in Greenpoint.
