Eat Well, Feed the Hungry With New City Harvest App

Categories: Edible News

We've always been a big fan of City Harvest, the organization that collects up to 30 million pounds of excess food from restaurants and markets every year to feed the hungry. The most famous supporter of City Harvest is organization chair Eric Ripert. The problem? Most people can't afford to eat at Le Bernardin every time they want to support the hungry. That's why City Harvest is releasing the new iPhone and Android app Great Food, Good Hearts on Tuesday, October 18. The idea is that wherever you are, you can look up restaurants that donate to City Harvest, then make reservations directly through a link to OpenTable. A look at some of the more than 150 restaurants that donate to the cause:

Not a bad list, huh? The rest are easily just as good. So yeah, if you're going to spend some cash for dinner anyway, you might as well do it at a restaurant that donates to a good cause. Just in case that isn't enough, the app also has a button that lets you donate directly.
