Adam Platt isn't exactly charmed by the new West Village Fatty 'Cue (50 Carmine Street), where "dishes don't have quite the same raffish, messy charm that they do when they're devoured among hordes of revelers at a cramped, smoky bar in their natural Williamsburg terroir (and if you're not careful, the profusion of small plates can produce an oversize, big-city tab)."
Meanwhile, Ryan Sutton finds the new Fatty 'Cue "tastier, tamer and marginally more mature than Brooklyn first born, which was plagued by blubbery meats upon opening last year."
Steve Cuozzo finds hits and misses, but overall approves of La Mar Cebicheria (11 Madison Avenue): "La Mar's whirlwind of exotic flavors blows away what you think of as 'Peruvian.'"
Tables for Two enjoyed a meal at St. Anselm, despite not being stoned: "[Chicken] will arrive stripped of nothing but its feathers. Ask too many questions, and your server might tell you that guinea pigs in Peru are served with their heads on, 'to prove they're not cats.'"
