SD26 gets a fungus.

Last year Josh Capon's white-truffle-laden burger at B&B was a huge hit, and it's back on the menu this year. The flavor bomb features robiola cheese, truffle oil, and a hand-shaved pile of white truffles on a brioche bun. And this is only the beginning. Marc Forgione is adding some to his chicken under-a-brick dish at as it comes out of the oven, and Locanda Verde's Andrew Carmellini will be on hand this coming Monday for White Trufflepalooza -- which is sadly already sold out, so be on the lookout for his Black Trufflepalooza come January.

Tony May made news last year by procuring one of the largest white truffles anyone had ever seen. This year, SD26 is flying smaller ones in from Alba, Italy, to go into a daily truffle menu, where they'll be included in dishes like beef tartare and homemade raviolini. Chef May will also be throwing a White Truffle Gala on November 16.

Other restaurants getting in on the truffle game are Le Caprice, where $90 gets you 10 grams of the stuff on your risotto, and Tocqueville. The latter will feature white truffles in a different dish every few days from fettuccine to gnocchi, or added to your chef's tasting for a small(ish) surcharge.

Let's hope the Occupy Wall Streeters don't hear about this.
