Camel Milk Does Exist!

Thanks to a tweeted comment from @P2H3K9, we have this astonishing video of a camel dairy in Saudi Arabia. It follows up on a piece posted earlier this morning about why there is no commercial source of pig's milk.

As the commentator on Dubai TV notes, camel's milk is lower in fat than cow's milk, with only 2 percent fat, yet it retains a rich and creamy texture, and has a higher nutritional content.

The problem is, camels produce too little milk for commercial purposes, hence the cloning experiment darkly alluded to in the video, in which camels are created out of camel ears. It's almost biblical!

Still, I'm rather surprised camels put up with it. As the video says, "It's the white gold of the desert."
