The Merry Well at Allswell

Categories: Featured

Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.

The drink: Merry Well

The bar: Allswell (124 Bedford Avenue, 347-799-2743)

The price: $11

The ingredients: Old Overholt, Amaro Averna, Dolin, Peychaud's Bitters, Allspice Dram

The buzz: The bold blend of rye whiskey, bitters, vermouth, and berry-accented liqueur has an autumnal air -- almost like a lightly sweetened slice of pie. With earthy hints of gourd, cinammon, and nutmeg, the somewhat dry drink goes great with the resto's hearty, meaty fare. The spiced, nuanced liquors truly enhance the menu's plates -- more so than a traditional glass of red wine.

Dolin is a brand of vermouth, not a type. They make dry, sweet/rouge, and blanc formulations. FYI.
