The Wayland Will Soon Offer Rock and Cocktails in Alphabet City
The Wayland, a new cocktail lounge and small-plates eatery, will open this Friday at 700 East 9th Street (212-777-7022). Run by mixology consultant Jason Mendenhall and chef Robert Ceraso, the spot will also offer patrons live rock and bluegrass, and there will be a weekday happy-hour special from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring $1 oysters and $3 drafts. Nibbles like smoked trout and roasted marrow bones will be available along with the craft cocktails (which even include a moonshine-apple bitters-smoked ice concoction called the Old Back Woods) and a Fernet Branca-homemade cola combo on tap.
